As the world is on lock down with the threat of the pandemic, social distancing and working from home have become the new normal. In many ways, being at home most of the time will make a great excuse to neglect your daily personal routine. You probably think that since you are not going to the office and no one is around to check whether your nails are clipped or your beard is groomed, you don’t have to waste your time grooming. But this is not the time to get sloppy! Remember that just because you are not meeting face-to-face, you still have those online meetings through zoom or skype. This means, being presentable is still important. In fact, there is a lot more pressure to look your best as your colleague will see you up close during those calls. Maintaining a personal hygiene for some of you may come naturally, but for some of you, grooming may only consist of washing your face and washing and cutting your hair. Grooming goes beyond this!

Today, we are going to give you some guidance on male grooming so that you can stay fresh and healthy while you are enjoying your time at home during the quarantine.

FACE

Cleaning – Although you are following the rule of staying home, your face is continually in contact with dirt, pollutant and old skin cells may be building up. It is important to wash your face at least once a day. Washing your face will help remove these particulates and keep your face look fresh. Make sure you wash your face with a face wash that contains the right formula for your skin type.

Moisturizing – For most men, cleaning face with the face wash is considered enough. However, if you have a dry skin or even some patches of dry skin on your face, we recommend applying moisturizer as it will help hydrating your skin and reduce other blemishes. If you have a specific skin problem such as extreme dryness or acne, you can opt for face serum which contain more active ingredients that can penetrate deeply to your skin.

Face Mask – Face mask may not be a necessity, but it can be a booster for your skin as it helps cleaning the impurities, making your face look fresh, hydrating your skin as well as improving your skin in general.

Lip Care – No one wants a dry cracked lip. To prevent this, you should not forget to apply lip balm. A good lip balm will seal moisture and help heal dry lips and reduce irritations that comes with it.

FACIAL HAIR

Shaving – Some men have thin light hair, but some men have a natural thick, coarse hair. If you have thick, coarse hair and not to keen on growing beard, you should maintain your facial hair by shaving them in a daily basis. Try to shave after warm shower as it may help open the pores which will give you better result.

Beard Care – Beard has been more and more popular in the recent years. If you have beard, you should always trim to prevent split ends. In addition to trimming, applying beard oil or beard balm will help you get the best looking and healthiest beard you can possibly have.

Eyebrow – Eyebrows are one of the most important features of your face. They show your emotions and they also prevent sweat or other debris from falling to your eyes. For that reason, tending and trimming them should be included on your hygiene routine.

HAIR

Washing – Washing your hair is extremely important to remove all the buildup on your scalp. However, unlike your skin, you may not need to wash your hair with shampoo daily. Shampoo is notorious on stripping natural oils from your hair. Some even say that hair washing should not be more than 3 times a week using a gentle shampoo that contains the precise formula according to your hair type.

Styling – Your barber shop may be closing but there should be no excuse for not looking presentable. If you don’t want to risk ruining your hair while doing a self-hair trimming, the least you can do is to style your hair. While styling your hair, make sure you use the right product to achieve the style you want. If you want a wet look, go for hair gel but if you want a matte finish, you can either use wax or clay.

BODY

Moisturizing – As coronavirus prevention, washing your hands is the best way to combat the spreading of the virus. However, by washing your hands often, your skin probably will lose moisture and as a result, your hands become dry and flaky. To prevent this, applying lotion is an absolute necessary.

Fragrance – You may not go to the office or a date but wearing perfume or body spray can elevate your mood. It is taught that smell affect our emotions and memory and in a hard time like this, fragrance may the one to help brighten your day.

Nail Care – Nails are a good indicator of your health. If you let your nails grow, there is a big chance that they might trapped germ and other bacteria that may cause infections. Keep your nails clean and short by cutting them regularly and file them to smooth away any rough edges.

Teeth – To maintain a good health, you should maintain a good dental hygiene. Dental hygiene is extremely important as it linked to heart disease, pneumonia, and diabetes. Brush your teeth and floss them daily. Aside from a good oral hygiene, make sure you eat a healthy diet that contains less added sugar.

CONCLUSION

Barbershops and nail salons may be closed during the lockdown, but life goes on, take this time for yourself to focus on you and be more diligent in grooming at home. Not only grooming can help maintain your health, it can also boost your confident on the way you present yourself.
